Raining While Camping at Pfeiffer State Park Campground in Big Sur (November 2023)

My friends and I went camping at Pfeiffer State Park in Big Sur, CA back in November. When the date was approaching, there was a storm warning and that it will rain during the weekend we went. Luckily, it was intermittent rain and was actually very enjoyable. I did a slightly different set up this time by ditching the provided picnic table and setting up tables under the canopy that I brought. ...

      @donaldsalas2571 Thank you for the kind words! It did get kind of chilly at night but during the day it was pretty warm. At times it got pretty windy, especially during the night so I think having a puff jacket would be recommended. I hope you enjoy your trip next year! Theres a small town right outside the campsite so if you forget anything I'm sure they'll have a store to buy what you need!

    Thanks for sharing your camping trip. I really enjoyed your video. My husband and I will be there for the first time next month. We are so excited. I must say you don't play around when preparing some amazing food! That was really impressive. I bet it smelled amazing and I feel sorry for anyone who was nearby with just hot dogs or hamburgers. From about 1959 to 1965 my family camped in tents at Quaking Aspen Campground for 2 to 3 weeks every summer. Those were the most special days of my young life. It seems to have changed quite a bit in the last 60 years or so. Many things still look familiar though. I have not been back since the summer of 1965. We used to do trout fishing in Peppermint Creek down the road a few miles. In those days camping in August many mornings had frost on the meadow. Woke up very chilled. The nighttime stars were beautiful.

    Really good video! The only complaint is that the music you play over the video is very loud and I would have personally preferred to hear the sounds of you setting up the camp with the sounds of rain. Not this time. I do have a electric cooler but since it was only two nights I made sure have enough ice! I just made sure to keep the bag of ice on top and everything stayed really cool. The veggies I precut at home and kept it in Tupperware so the ice doesn't damage the veggies. Also big sur area was very cool so it didn't warrant a fridge but if I'm camping somewhere very warm I'd take my electric cooler

    My family camped in Quaking Aspen Campground 6 out of 7 summers from 1959 to 1965 (our last year). Those are the most favorite memories of my youth and early teenage years. It was a rugged mountain paradise back then, and at the end of the road for the first 2 or 3 times we camped there. We fished for trout in Upper Peppermint Creek 3 or so miles up a very bad dirt the road. Thank you for posting this.

    is it legal or there is no restriction to fly over Santa Fe Dam? just wondering. I live near by.

    • @oomashimaruoo
      @oomashimaruoo 4 роки тому

      As I understand it, you are allowed to. However, laws and policies regarding drones are changing almost daily and each day there are more restrictions being placed on drones. A lot of places that were allowed are not anymore. However, I did find this on the FAQ for LA county parks site: The Department’s policy on drones is the same as the County’s policy on traditional powered model vehicles - e.g. model airplanes and helicopters - referenced in County Code sections 17.04.630, 17.12.425, and 12.08.290. There are, however, two designated locations to fly drones located at Santa Fe Dam State Recreation Area and Whittier Narrows Community Regional Park. Please call the parks for more information: Santa Fe Dam: 626.334.1065 Whittier Narrows: 626.575.5526 No Fly Zone maps do not show all restrictions and it is always best to check the website of the location you want to fly your drone to see if they have any bans. Some cities may have a city wide restriction as well. Unfortunately? They are making it more and more impossible to fly a drone anywhere. But I'm glad they at least try to create some designated spots.
